ShowsSouth America
NewsNew LineupWe are stoked to announce that Alan Cage will be joining 108 on the drums. The first time the public will get their ears on it will be our South American tour in April. Alan replaces Tom Hogan, who stayed with us for over a year, contributed significantly to our newest release on Deathwish Records, and has become an important member of the 108 family. We wish him the best for his musical future. TexasTexas was fucking awesome... mostly because of the Texans, not really because of us. Everyone involved in making the shows happen really deserve thanks, especially our new friends in The Jon Benet who lent us their equipment, their van, their friends, and themselves. I headed down to Texas sort of wondering, "Now, why the hell are we playing in texas again?" And I came back thinking, "How soon can we go back there?" October 2007 Update

Angel Strike Man… angel strike man. we’re forgetting, again. buildings are falling and we’re failing again. numb to the misery (from all the) blood stained imagery. angel strike man. sell yourself into slavery again, sell our children to the state again, sell your body to commercials again, sell your soul for the dollar again. shackled for forgetting, forgetting again. shackled just long enough to remember again. every word is politics, every action; a smoking gun and if you deny it run, run, run. angel strike man. Guilt… empires built on doctrinal guilt. controlling man (with what we) cant understand. words, body and mind enslaved at a shrine with little left (except) impending death. guilt, guilt, guilty for being alive. written words designate (awaiting) death. desires define degrees of helplessness. birth and gender assign entitlement while feelings and emotions are left for dead. guilt, guilt, guilty for being alive. this is our sickness with no one else to blame. simple minds bring a handicapped existence. so much for being free. so much for being me. Curse of Instinct
Threefold Misery
blood… specter image, arisen in the graveyard of my mind: they embrace. and i see blood (i see blood) i see blood and bones, and not romance (not romance). || the blood, the blood and the bones. the blood, and the skulls. passionate collision of skeletons. ashen impact... again || cried out, and then they crumbled. they cried out (they cried out) and they crumbled; collapsed. like the dreams they tried to build: that could never be fulfilled, in this world. || the blood, the blood and the bones. the blood and the skulls. passionate collision of skeletons. passionate collision of bodies || "pessimist" - but ain't it so factual? everything is temporary, in this world. but my reality is not bleak, because i live for my soul, i give my love to my soul-of-my-soul. || the blood, the blood and the bones. the blood and the skulls. passionate collision of skeletons. i shall abstain. arctic… i'll try for you. i'd cry for you. trial. trial by ice. || i can simply extend my finger in a pose of exquisite pain. my pain. i can only stretch my arms. stretch, reach, for you || try, try, try, try, try to survive || i'll trial for you. i'd cry for you. trial. trial by ice. || i need a blanket to warm me from the chill of my emptiness. i need a blanket to exsulate me because it's cold inside. || try, try, try, not to freeze, freeze, freeze; die. || a jolting phone: cataclysmic in the bone-marrow night. i need a blanket to warm me from the chill of my emptiness. where is sleep to hide me, from the fact that you're so absent in my heart? where is sleep to hide me, from the fact that i'm too dead to care? || hollow are the bones of lonely. || i stand: hollow. i die: hollow. but i try. Songs of Separation
solitary… condemned cell incarcerates me. no walls, no bars on this cage, it’s just “me” the penitentiary is my “identity” in this solitary i learn what it’s like to be so alone || crouched in a lonesome corner i shiver, head faced to the wall, my eyes glued to the mirror. masculinity beats the living hell out of me. vanity is only my reality, my only cold companion. || each moment without you i die, oh Krishna. BlogsVic DiCara's BlogKarmaKarma is NOT fate. There are two reasons why.
1) Fate is something caused by someone or something else that you MUST endure. Karma on the other hand is something that you have created yourself. Your own actions create your own karma - not "god" or anyone besides yourself. 2) Fate is something inescapable. Karma is not an "occurrence" but an influence. Karma is the influences that will act upon you according to your past actions. It is entirely up to your free will how you react to those influences and what you make of them. Depending on how you deal with your influences, you create good / bad / transcendent karma going forward. — May 7th, 2008 Vic plays guitar and occasionally sings contact: vicdicara at mac dot com Rasaraja's Blogclosing the year...In the last day members of 108 flew and drove far distances to meet at Vic's place, situated in the mighty Inland Empire (CA), to have our first practice of the year and begin writing and recording demos for a new record. Yes, practice for 108 is a yearly event when you live so far apart.
This year we managed to record and release a new record, A New Beat From A Dead Heart, on Deathwish Inc. and played shows in 18 cities through the US and another 22 dates in Europe. All in all a very productive year for us. Thank you to everyone at Deathwish Inc., the almighty Avocado Booking and everyone who came out to the shows, bought a record or thought of buying one but chose to download that shit for free (yes, we still love you). If you dug the new record SMN News has put the album up to be voted on as the Best Metal Album of 2007. If interested go to THIS LINK and and cast your vote. On another note here are some damn cool records you should be checking out that were released in 2007: Blacklisted - Peace of Earth, War on Stage (Deathwish Inc.) Cloak/Dagger - We Are (Jade Tree) COA - Snitch (Down to Nothing) Coalesce - Salt and Passage (Second Nature) Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works (Relapse) Jay Z - American Gangster (Roc-A-Fella) Lifetime - S/T (Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance) Lighthouse Project - Gift (Combat Rock Industry) Pulling Teeth - Martyr Immortal (Deathwish Inc.) Rise and Fall - 7” (Deathwish Inc.) Alright boys and girls, I hope you all had a great year and that 2008 will be good to all of us. With Love… Robert Ps. Before I joined 108 I was in a band called Ressurection with members of such fine bands as Lifetime, Texas is the Reason, Kid Dynamite, The Van Pelt, Floorpunch, Jets to Brazil and Paint it Black. The band has a new MySpace page and will be announcing news on an upcoming discography set to be released in 2008 after a remix by our good friend Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios (Converge). Rough mixes sound fucking awesome, get into it. If interested you can join their MySpace by going to http://www.myspace.com/ressurectionxxx — December 27th, 2007 Ras sings contact: rasaraja dot dasa at gmail dot com Vic's Latest Gita Blog18b: Summary of Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 18, the last Chapter in the Gita, spends most of it’s time recapping everything that has come before. So we’ve seen joy, resolve, understanding, will, perception and action all analyzed in terms of three modes of natural operation. You might be thinking, “Jeez, it seems like everything can be broken down according to these three modes of nature!” Well, you would be right. No one and nothing is free from the hypnotic influence of these three modes. In fact, even society as a whole can be divided according to the mode of nature which is most prevalent in their behavior. This is all a final summary of the end section of the book, which dealt mainly with knowledge and philosophy. But, by mentioning the effect of the three modes upon the different divisions of society Krishna segues into summarizing the first section of the book - with dealt with the virtue of actively performing one’s social duties as opposed to haphazardly renouncing them and attempting to become “wise”. Thus Krishna describes the four divisions of Classical Hindu society along with their main social duties. He then advises that sticking to the duties prescribed according to the mode of nature that prevails in one’s individual personality is the best form of general purification and spiritual evolution. Such self-control and self-discipline awakens knowledge within one’s heart and leads one to self realization. With this, Krishna segues into a summary of the middle section of the Gita - which dealt with the supreme virtue of Love as an elevating and purifying spiritual practice. Krishna explains that self-realization entails realizing the true identity of oneself in relation to the universe and, ultimately, to the Supreme Personality of Godhead (who, nicely, is the person speaking!). Thus self-realization culminates in the actualization of a loving relationship between the self and the supreme self. At this point, the summary of Bhagavad Gita is complete. Krishna now turns his attention to the original topic at hand: Arjun is standing on a battlefield at the brink of a war he must fight, but which his sentiments and emotions will not allow him to engage in. Krishna reminds him that his mode of nature will incline him to battle whether he likes it or not, therefore it’s better to do battle for the right cause at the right place, even if it is personally difficult. Finally Krishna turns responsibility over to Arjun, saying, “OK, I’ve explained everything I can explain. I’ve given you my opinions on things. Now it’s time for you to make your own choices on what you will do.” With a last lingering inability to be decisive, Arjun hesitates. Krishna responds by saying, “I will tell you one more thing, the most secret thing of all. I’m only telling you this because you are my dear friend: Devote your actions to me, I promise you, no evil will come of it. When duties and rights and wrongs confuse and confound you, don’t worry. Abandon all religion, all duty, all morality - simply act out of Love for me. I will take care of the rest.” Now it has been spoken, the topmost secret of the entire Bhagavad Gita. Krishna cautions that most people will neglect this inner secret, or twist and misunderstand it. Only those who wish to become friends of Krishna - like Arjun - will be able to grasp it truly. — March 26th, 2008
